FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is the middle school division of FIRST Robotics, offering hands-on experience with more complex robot design and programming.
- WHO Middle school students, Grades 6th - 8th
- WHERE Philomath High School
- WHEN FTC teams meet and compete during the fall and early winter. Competitions take place in January and February. Practices are Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8pm and Saturdays from 1 to 4pm. FTC competes about 3 to 4 times in a season. Competitions are regional (e.g. Eugene, Wilsonville) and typically on Saturdays. Transportation is provided.
FTC teams design, build, and program mid-sized robots using a modular robotics platform to compete in head-to-head challenges while developing engineering, coding, and teamwork skills.
